Kayla Harrison recently opened up about successfully weighing in at 135 pounds, making her women's bantamweight title bout against Julianna Pena official for UFC 316. The bout serves as the co-main event and will see Harrison compete after weighing in at the bantamweight title fight limit for the first time in her career.

Ahead of the bout, Harrison had been open about the struggles she had to overcome to make the 136-pound non-title limit, so there was debate among the MMA community whether the extra pound would be too much. The former two-time Olympic gold medalist had primarily competed at lightweight during her PFL tenure, so moving down two divisions could take a toll.

Harrison posted a photo along with a statement to her X account, where she expressed her joy in making the 135-pound limit. She mentioned that this weight cut was more significant to her because it represented determination and resilience. She wrote:

"Achieving 135 represents more than a successful weight cut, it's my testimony. The early mornings. The late nights. The tears. The discipline when no one was watching. The quiet faith that carried me when I was tired and overwhelmed. All glory be to God. Isaiah 41:10."

Kayla Harrison expects dominant win over Julianna Pena at UFC 316

On Pound 4 Pound, Kayla Harrison recently shared her thoughts on her upcoming women's bantamweight title clash against Julianna Pena. Harrison didn't entirely dismiss Pena's chances but mentioned that she believes herself to be a far superior fighter and intends to execute her game plan to break Pena "apart."

"Julianna's best attribute, that's what she is, she's a fighter. She's gonna throw the kitchen sink at me... I believe that I'm better everywhere. I can win this fight in standing, ground, grappling, all of it. I think that I'm the better fighter everywhere. I think she has a puncher's chance as we all do. I'll look for my shots, my openings... I plan to go out there and just systematically break her apart."
