Kayla Harrison was interviewed at the UFC 316 post-fight press conference, where she was asked about which accolade was harder to achieve — Olympic judo gold or the UFC bantamweight championship.
Harrison secured a dominant submission victory at the end of the second round against Juliana Pena in the co-headliner of UFC 316. This was only a third appearance in the UFC and she has already established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the bantamweight division. She currently boats an impressive professional record of 19-1 and is expected to make her first title defense against the former decorated bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes.
The 34-year-old secured two Olympic gold medals in Judo for the United States, the first at the 2012 London Olympics and the second at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. She then decided to transition to MMA in search of a new challenge and was inspired by former teammate Ronda Rousey.
The newly-minted champion shared that it was a difficult question to answer and was hoping to evade the question. She later stated that both her achievements are very special to her and choosing between the two would be like picking a favorite child.

"Dude, I thought I was going to get away! This is like a very bad spot for me, becauseif I say [that] it was harder to become [a] UFC champion then all the judo people will be mad at me and if I say [that] it is harder to become an Olympic champion [then] all the UFC people [will be mad at me]."
She added:
"They are both very special, this is like picking a favorite child, I don't have any favorite children, I love them both. One of them gets on my nerves more than the other, but I love them both."
