Yes. According to Dana White, Khamzat Chimaev is keen to remain in the UFC's 170lbs division despite 'Borz' having weight-cutting issues during his previous bout.

The Swedish-born fighter missed weight by a whopping 7.5lbs at UFC 279, which raised eyebrows at the time due to the complete failure of a weight-cut.

Khamzat's UFC 279 weight miss was the worst in UFC history, so you wouldn't hold it against White for keeping an eye on 'Borz'. The UFC president has stated that the Chechnya-born fighter has one more chance at 170lbs:

"Khamzat wants to fight at 170, and I’m going to give him one more opportunity to make the weight."

These days, it seems Chimaev is never too far away from controversy in the UFC. Whether 'Borz' is missing weight or starting fights, the 28-year-old can't seem to stay out of the headlines. The Swedish-based UFC star recently made the news for the wrong reasons at UFC 280 last weekend.

'Borz' got into an altercation with Abubakar Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi and has also been hanging around with controversial Chechen figure Ramzan Kadyrov. Kadyrov reportedly helped squash the beef between Chimaev and Nurmagomedov, but has been criticized for his involvement in the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Has Khamzat Chimaev fought in other weight divisions during his UFC career?

Yes. Khamzat Chimaev has competed in two weight divisions during his UFC career. 'Borz' made his debut in the organization after taking on John Phillips in the middleweight division.

Chimaev, of course, remained unbeaten against Phillips at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige in 2020. 'Borz' returned to the middleweight division upon taking on Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs. Woodley in the same year.

As mentioned, Chimaev had weight-cutting issues in his most recent bout at UFC 279. 'Borz' was forced to compete at catchweight after missing the 170lbs weight limit by 7.5lbs. The 28-year-old's bout against Kevin Holland took place at 180lbs, which was likely easier for Chimaev given he's actively competed in the 185lbs division in the UFC.

Dana White is willing to give 'Borz' one more chance in the 170lbs division, with the UFC president likely to force Chimaev to move-up in weight should he fail at another weight-cut.
