Shalie Lipp was honored at the MMA event she was scheduled to compete in on Saturday. Lipp was an amateur MMA fighter with a record of 3-2. Just 21 years of age, the rising star was set to fight for the flyweight title in the main event at Ignite No Mercy 11.

Unfortunately, Lipp met with an accident on Sunday, May 7, 2023. The accident took place on the Red River Bridge, a part of Interstate 94 in Moorhead, Minnesota.

The New York Post detailed that as per a crash report procured by Valley News Live, the accident involved two vehicles and took place at around 11:30 a.m. It was reported that with the exception of Lipp, both vehicles' occupants had their seatbelts on and survived the crash.

Lipp was booked to compete for the flyweight title against Natalie Gage in the headlining matchup at Ignite No Mercy 11 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, on May 20, 2023. After Lipp's unfortunate passing, the organizers and others involved in the event paid tribute to the late MMA fighter.

As reported by Valley News Live, Mike Davis of Ignite Fights suggested that many people attended the event to express their support for Lipp and her family. Several fights transpired at No Mercy 11, and a memorial was conducted before the main event.

Highlights from Lipp's past fights were played at the event. The championship belt, which she would've fought for, was handed to her family. Davis stated:

“It’s not about anything else but Shalie... When one of our soldiers goes down, all of us gotta get together and support her and her family... Everyone here is honoring her life, and we’re very honored to be a part of it... She was an integral part of what it is we do at Ignite Fights. You know, we’re proud to be associated with someone like Shalie Lipp... That’s what fighters do, they go all-in, and Shalie was all-in, and we’re here all-in for her.”

In the aftermath of Shalie Lipp's untimely passing, her mother found her journal. She discovered that at the end of every entry, Lipp would write "Dana White will know my name." It's believed that this was the young fighter's way of manifesting her dream of competing in the UFC, which explains the mention of longtime UFC president Dana White.

White heard of the story from the organization's matchmaker Mick Maynard, who was originally told of Lipp's passing by former UFC women's flyweight title challenger Lauren Murphy. Like many others in the MMA community, White too paid his respects to Shalie Lipp. Taking to Instagram, the UFC boss paid his condolences to Lipp's family.

Moreover, at the UFC Fight Night event in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 13, 2023, the UFC honored Lipp. A sticker with her name was placed on the octagon door at the event.
