Reece McLaren could be well on his way to a blockbuster fight against Adriano Moraes if Lito Adiwang's predictions all fall into place.
The strawweight MMA contender believes McLaren could fight the former ONE flyweight MMA world champion if he gets past Jarred Brooks at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
McLaren will welcome the ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion to the flyweight MMA division in his next fight inside the ONE Championship ring in Bangkok.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Lito Adiwang said McLaren is the perfect opponent for Moraes since both fighters share the same grappling background.
"Personally, I feel that if he wins this, he could face Adriano Moraes. The skills, height, and fighting style are all present in Reece, so this could be a good preparation for Moraes as well."
McLaren and Moraes are Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialists who rely on their mastery of the submission art to subdue their opponents.
The pair also started their ONE Championship tenures within two years of each other, with Moraes debuting in the promotion in 2013 and McLaren in 2015.
Still, McLaren would first need to get past Brooks if Adiwang's prophecy would come to reality.
Brooks, a former ONE strawweight MMA world champion, is determined to dominate the flyweight MMA division and McLaren has been on his radar for quite some time.
ONE Fight Night 26 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Lito Adiwang says Reece McLaren is the perfect opponent for Jarred Brooks at flyweight
Lito Adiwang believes ONE Championship made the perfect call to pit Jarred Brooks against Reece McLaren at ONE Fight Night 26.
In the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Adiwang said McLaren fits all the right boxes to test Brooks in a heavier weight class while also putting on an absolute banger of a match in Bangkok:
"I think Reece is the perfect opponent for Jarred. It won't be a good look if he will be given a weak opponent. At least he will be tested immediately in his first match in the flyweight division, and we will see if he can really deal with their size, their weight, and their skill."
