ONE strawweight contender Lito Adiwang has given his thoughts on the upcoming matchup between Stamp Fairtex and Anissa Meksen.

At ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, the two elite strikers will meet in the promotion’s second-ever mixed-rules fight. Stamp will be putting her MMA skills that she has developed over the years in ONE Championship against the elite striking skill set of Meksen.

In an interview with The MMA Super Fan, Adiwang was asked about which competitor he believes has more to lose by competing in a mixed-rules contest, which somewhat takes them out of their comfort zones.

He said:

“Stamp for me. Number one, she’s more famous, she became a champion in two different sports before, so the pressure is on Stamp.”

To Lito Adiwang’s point, both are strong reasons to back up his opinion on the fight. Stamp Fairtex has become one of the biggest names in ONE Championship and that gives a fighter like Anissa Meksen a chance to let her carry the pressure of the contest and gain serious momentum with a win.

On top of that, whilst Meksen will be competing in a totally different ruleset, Stamp Fairtex has elite-level experience in both the striking arts and MMA. While a striking contest between the two would be exciting enough, there’s an added level of interest thanks to Stamp’s success in MMA.

“I would even move up to flyweight” - Lito Adiwang ready to change weight divisions just to fight Rodtang

Strawweight contender Lito Adiwang may be sitting near the top of ONE’s strawweight division, but he isn’t opposed to moving up a weight class to face one particular opponent.

In his time sitting on the sidelines, Adiwang heard talk of ONE’s flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon potentially transitioning to MMA.

Rodtang has completely dominated his Muay Thai bouts throughout his career in ONE Championship, which has led to him becoming a huge name in combat sports around the globe.

In his first appearance of 2023, Rodtang will compete in a kickboxing bout, once again proving that he is willing to seek out new challenges. That was also proven at ONE X, when he took on Demetrious Johnson in the promotion’s first-ever mixed-rules fight.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Adiwang said that he was thrilled when he found out about Rodtang’s plan to eventually transition to mixed martial arts.

Lito Adiwang said:

“He would probably need a full year of pure MMA training in order to really be competitive in this sport. But he’s in his prime and if he wins this tournament, he will have nothing left to prove as a striker. I am really willing to welcome him when he switches over to MMA. I would even move up to flyweight to face him.”

Nevertheless, the Filipino star is looking forward to a potential showcase against the Muay Thai legend:

“When I heard he was thinking about transitioning to mixed martial arts, I got really excited. I thought to myself, ‘This is my chance to fight Rodtang.’”
