James Krause, who played an important role in getting the MMA promotion Fighting Alliance Championship (FAC) off the ground, has been barred from attending the upcoming FAC 17.

Krause is currently at the center of a betting scandal that threatens to derail much of the work sportsbooks have done to become more popular in MMA.

The MMA fighter turned coach was banned from participating in any UFC event several weeks ago, and the FAC have now followed suit. FAC 17 will take place on December 9, and Krause currently has three fighters who are set to appear on the card.

According to ESPN, the Missouri-based promotion have now banned Krause from attending the upcoming event.

ESPN reporter David Purdum recently tweeted:

"James Krause, the MMA coach at the center of a UFC betting controversy, is barred from attending or cornering any fighters at the Fighting Alliance Championship event on Friday. Krause's name has been used to promote the FAC for years."

The formation of the FAC in 2012 was successful partly due to James Krause's association with the promotion. Despite having no financial ties to the company, the former MMA fighter was often named alongside the FAC as a way to promote the company.

However, the FAC seems to have cut ties with Krause entirely following the UFC betting scandal at UFC Fight Night 214.

Multiple investigations are being conducted by the UFC, FBI and state commissions regarding Darrick Minner vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke at UFC Fight Night 214.

Nuerdanbieke was a -220 favorite the entire week leading up to Saturday night. But, from the time that the event started until Minner vs. Nuerdanbieke took place, the odds moved to -420 in Nuerdanbieke's favor.

Several large bets were placed on the Chinese national to win via a first-round TKO hours before the fight took place, which sounded alarms for sportsbooks. Minner injured his knee early in the fight and was swiftly finished on the ground.

Krause was in Minner's corner for the fight and has since been suspended by the UFC, pending investigation.

Matt Brown claims that James Krause is "f***ed" following UFC betting scandal

James Krause has been barred from participating in UFC events. The biggest MMA promotion on the planet also announced that it would suspend any fighter who continues to be associated with Krause.

It appears that Krause's world is coming crashing down around him, and according to UFC veteran Matt Brown, there is no coming back from this level of scrutiny.

Brown recently spoke to MMA Fighting and said:

"Long story short, James Krause is f***ed"
