Joe Rogan's latest podcast guest, Maynard James Keenan, is a musician, winemaker, producer and actor. He is most famously known as the vocalist and frontman of the band Tool. His other projects include A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

Keenan has made several appearances on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and is close friends with the UFC commentator.

Maynard James Keenan is a fight fan and a practitioner of martial arts. He has a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Luis Heredia. Keenan also mentioned that he trains Muay Thai.

Apart from being a musician and martial artist, Keenan is also a winemaker. His family has a history of winemaking in Northern Italy and owns the Merkin Vineyards and Caduceus Cellars. He is a successful restaurateur who has several wine-and-dine establishments in Arizona.

A significant chunk of Puscifer's album 'Conditions of my Parole' was recorded in the wine cellars of Merkin Vineyards.

Maynard James Keenan has also worked as an actor and has appeared in several comedy sketches and movies. He made appearances on 'Mr. Show', 'Run Ronnie Run', the 'Bikini Bandits' series, 'Crank: High Voltage' and 'Comedy Bang! Bang!'

He is most notable for being the frontman and vocalist for Tool, which is a collaborative effort between him, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor. Music aficionados will point to Puscifer as being Keenan's brainchild as it embodies more of the musician's quirks.

With Tool, he has released five full-length albums. Their latest album, 'Fear Inoculum', was released in 2019, 13 years after their previous release, '10,000 Days'. With Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, the frontman has released four albums each.

Maynard James Keenan: The infamous onstage hip toss

Back in 2010, during a live performance with Tool, a fan jumped up on stage to greet the vocalist. The band was performing the song Pushit from their 1996 album 'Ænema'.

In a video of the performance, the fan can be seen running up on stage to greet Keenan. The vocalist grabs and hip-tosses him, mounts his back, and locks him in a rear-naked choke. In all of this, Keenan continues to sing.

While this incident can be viewed as distasteful on the part of Maynard James Keenan, one has to remember that fans rushing the stage can lead to unpredictable and dangerous outcomes.

In 2004, while performing on stage with Damageplan, former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrel was fatally shot by a deranged fan who rushed to the stage with a 9mm pistol.
