Reigning UFC bantamweight kingpin Merab Dvalishvili locked horns with Sean O'Malley in a rematch at UFC 316 and won via round-three submission. With that, Dvalishvili defended his strap for the second time in 2025.
This week, the Georgian UFC champion and his friend Nina-Marie Daniele will visit Georgia, as confirmed by the latter.

Daniele was in attendance for UFC 316 at the Prudential Center, cheering for 'The Machine', who defeated 'Suga' for the second time with yet another incredible display of striking, takedowns, and endurance.

After the event, Daniele posted a video on her Instagram story, where she celebrated with Dvalishvili and promised to carry his belt during their trip to Georgia. She captioned it:
"I'M COMING TO GEORGIA WITH MERAB NEXT WEEK🇬🇪 CAN'T WAIT TO MEET ALL THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE OF GEORGIA🤍 @MERAB.DVALISHVILI I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR ENTIRE COUNTRY CELEBRATE YOU! SO PROUD AND SO HAPPY!"

Dana White lauds Merab Dvalishvili
UFC CEO Dana White was impressed by Merab Dvalishvili's UFC 316 performance. During the post-fight presser, White praised Dvalishvili's improvement with each bout and also suggested a future rematch with Umar Nurmagomedov. He said:
"We don't know [how to beat him]. Sean O'Malley came in 100 percent healthy, mentally ready, physically every way you could be ready for this fight and Merab finished him."
White added:
"A Umar [Nurmagomedov] rematch is interesting, and it makes your legacy even more interesting when you run through everybody twice, so. We'll see."

Dvalishvili and Nurmagomedov locked horns at UFC 311 earlier this year, and 'The Machine' secured a unanimous decision win and also snatched the Russian fighter's undefeated record.
Dvalishvili is expected to defend his strap next against the No. 4-ranked bantamweight Cory Sandhagen in the coming months.
