Michael 'Venom' Page spoke highly of Leon Edwards' UFC welterweight championship win and shared his excitement for the talented British fighters that are coming through the MMA scene in the UK.

During his pre-fight media availabiltiy ahead of his bout with Goiti Yamauchi at Bellator 292 this Friday, Page shared his thoughts on fighters coming out of the UK. He mentioned that in the past few years, UK fighters have been doing well in the sport and earning respect for their accomplishments.

He said:

"Over the last 3-4 years, the amount of new talent that's coming through is unbelieveable. And then obviously, with Leon Edwards taking that [UFC welterweight championship] from [Kamaru] Usman, is great."

'MVP' added that he believes that fighters from the UK have not been viewed in the same light as fighters competing from other nations. He mentioned that in recent years, British fighters have been able to change that perception, saying:

"I think people, you know, for a long time have kind of downplayed the UK. I say downplay it's like, 'Oh, you're gonna get the odd one or two stars,' but especially the MMA level, it's not high enough yet but I think we've definitely more than proven that that's not the case. So yeah, it's gonna be an amazing week for the UK."

Page will look to get back into title contention in Bellator's welterweight division, while Edwards will look to defeat Usman in their trilogy fight next week at UFC 286.

Michael Page will be looking to snap his losing skid when he returns to the cage at Bellator 292. His entertaining fighting style and incredible knockouts have made him a household name and he will look to add Goiti Yamauchi to his highlight reel when they compete this Friday.
