Several MMA fighters have been caught on the wrong side of the law over the years. However, nothing comes close to the devious crime Dwayne Herelle Jr. has been accused of committing.

Former MMA fighter Dwayne Herelle Jr. is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend 17 times and hiding her body in his closet following an argument outside the woman's Tennessee residence. According to her sister and local news sources, he has been charged with murder after reportedly stabbing 24-year-old Irene Torres outside the home where she lived with her parents on January 29.

Reyna Douglas, the victim's older sister, stated on a GoFundMe page that Herelle waited for Torres to come home from work and then ambushed her. WKRN reported on Wednesday that police revealed that Torres had been stabbed more than 17 times.

Sherdog reports that Dwayne Herelle Jr. has had two professional MMA fights, both of which he lost. He allegedly dragged Torres' body into his car, went home, and hid the remains in his closet. Local media reported that Detective Derry Baltimore of the Metro Nashville Police Department testified in court that an altercation between the two occurred just before the attack. According to Baltimore, Herelle threw Torres's bloodstained clothes and purse into a dumpster behind a grocery store.

After MMA fighter Dwayne Herelle Jr. killed Irene Torres, her sister spoke out

On January 29, Dwayne Herelle Jr. (28) is suspected of stabbing co-worker and ex-partner Irene Torres (24) outside the Tennessee home where she resided with her parents.

According to detectives, the couple had engaged in a heated disagreement the day prior, and the former MMA competitor waited for Torres to get home after their bar shift to exact his revenge.

According to her sister, Torres and Herelle broke up a month before Herelle's murder due to the relationship being physically and emotionally abusive.

“While most 24-year-olds are planning their careers and futures, and are optimistic about the world, Irene spent some of the last months of her young life abused, degraded, terrorized, and fearful. Irene showed immense bravery in leaving her abusive relationship and was so happy to start her new life with the support of her family, only to be hunted down in her front yard and brutally murdered one month later.”

She added:

“For those that were fortunate to know Irene, despite being terrorized, abused, and living in fear, she always had a smile on her face and a compliment to give."
