Retired Muay Thai legend John Wayne Parr has recently given his take on the controversies surrounding fighter pay in MMA whilst using Conor McGregor as an example.

McGregor is undoubtedly the biggest star in MMA and is often credited with helping the UFC grow to what it is today. Naturally, 'Notorious' is earning exponentially more than when he first broke into the promotion.

For context, the top five UFC pay-per-views of all time are all main-evented by Conor McGregor.

In a post on his Instagram, Parr gave his take on the issues surrounding fighter pay. The 10-time Muay Thai world champion opted not to blame the organizations and instead pointed the finger at the fighters.

The Australian stated that it is entirely up to the fighters to perform in a manner that grows their brand and puts fans on seats:

"Being a professional fighter is one of the craziest jobs ever. But unfortunately not everyone is going to be Conor McGregor. At the start you have to be willing to sacrifice working and training to pay the bills. But hopefully once you start making a name you can live comfortably training as a professional and no longer need full-time employment to survive."

Daniel Cormier suggests Charles Oliveira insult Conor McGregor to get a fight with him

Charles Oliveira has been pushing for a fight with Conor McGregor for some time. The Brazilian even stated last year that he was looking past his bout with Islam Makhachev with hopes of defending the lightweight title in Brazil against the Irishman.

Now, having lost to Makhachev at UFC 280, 'do Bronx' has also seemingly called time on his push for a bout with 'Notorious'. Oliveira believes McGregor is scared to fight him.

Daniel Cormier recently weighed in on the situation on his YouTube channel. According to 'DC', if Charles Oliveira is serious about fighting Conor McGregor, he must get personal to get the 34-year-old's attention:

"I really believe that for Charles Oliveira now, not holding that belt - that belt was the one thing that made him valuable to Conor because Conor thought, 'Well, this is a guy that strikes, this is a guy that can be hurt, this is a guy that holds the championship so I want to fight that dude.'"

He added:

"If he really does want an opportunity, I think Oliveira needs to talk more about McGregor and be more insulting about McGregor and talk about all the issues that McGregor has... 'do Bronx', get personal, get nasty if you want to cash that check."
