Despite suffering a nasty injury in his last outing, Muhammad Mokaev is wasting no time and is looking to set plans in motion to return to the octagon. The prodigy has a top 10 ranked flyweight firmly in his sights.

The prodigy has showcased a number of brilliant performances since debuting in the UFC last year, but his most recent display was arguably his most impressive. While it wasn't his best fight in the octagon, it was his ability to battle his way out of a tight kneebar attempt to earn a submission of his own.

In a post on social media, Muhammad Mokaev announced his intention to return to the cage and called for a July or August clash against the #8 ranked flyweight veteran Matt Schnell:

"Matt Schnell, you said you don't want to fight in the UK, that's fine! I will come to the US to your backyard and fight you there, how about that? July/August, let's go!"

This isn't the first time that Mokaev has pushed for a shot at a contender in the top 10. He remains confident of breaking Jon Jones' 12-year record and becoming the youngest fighter to ever claim UFC gold.

The 22-year-old has fought his way to a four-fight win streak in the octagon and aims to continue his ascension toward a title shot in a fight against the higher-ranked Matt Schnell. 'Danger' is a tough submission expert who is known for his grit inside the cage, though he has holes in his game that the prospect can exploit.

Muhammad Mokaev's next fight: Who is next up for the rising star?

With a flawless 10-0 record in the sport, Muhammad Mokaev has proven to be a problem for whoever is put in front of him, but who will the star face next?

Despite being No.12-ranked in the flyweight division, 'The Punisher' has been assigned a number of unranked opponents, and after he has bulldozed through each of them, it's likely time to give him his wish of a fighter inside the top 10.

Only three competitors ranked above Mokaev are likely available to fight, leaving the UK representative without much choice going forward. Alongside the aforementioned Matt Schnell, seemingly the only other man able to take the fight is David Dvorak, an athlete who is currently enduring a two-fight losing streak.
