It appears as though Nate Diaz is seeking litigation as he sued Fanmio over $9 million in unpaid earnings for his recent boxing bout against Jorge Masvidal. The Stockton native isn't pleased as he honored his agreement but won't be compensated for what had been agreed to.

The former UFC lightweight title challenger fought his former foe at a boxing event that was promoted by Fanmio and drew a sell out crowd at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Despite the success in ticket sales, it doesn't appear as though the promoters will see a return on investment.

According to a report by TMZ Sports, the Stockton native is suing Fanmio and promoter Solomon Engel for breaching their contract for the event. Diaz agreed to fight Masvidal for a $10 million payday and had both a verbal and written agreement. They wrote:

"According to Diaz, Engel said he couldn't supply the funds because he didn't profit off the fight like he expected...The lawsuit also claims Engel told Diaz he couldn't pay him, despite verbal and written agreements, because his wife might divorce him over the financial loss." [H/T TMZ Sports]

During Monday's episode of The MMA Hour, the journalist read a statement from the Stockton native's manager, which explained how his client was going to be paid for his boxing bout against Jorge Masvidal. Helwani mentioned that Diaz agreed to several additional media appearances to promote the bout and revealed that promoter Solomon Engel then notified them he couldn't honor the payment. He said:

"In a flurry of desperate calls to Diaz's representatives following the event, Engel despondently groveled that he was going to lose more money than he anticipated on the event if he paid Diaz what he had promised and that his wife might divorce him because of the financial losses. Engel went so far as to threaten he might have to declare bankruptcy to avoid paying Diaz what he owed."
