ONE CEO and chairman Chatri Stiyodtong recently spoke about the remarkable run of Dagestani MMA fighter Murad Ramazanov in the promotion. The 185-pound wrestler from the Caucasus region of Russia has been unstoppable with his grappling assault on the division. Ramazanov is currently undefeated and is 3-0 in the division.

The 27-year-old will welcome highly-touted prospect Roberto Soldic into the promotion at ONE on Prime Video 5. If he flattens Soldic as he did the rest of his opponents in ONE, Ramazanov might be looking at a world title shot next.

In his post-fight media scrum after ONE on Prime Video 4, Sityodtong spoke about Ramazanov's wrestling acumen and where it falls on the list of the best today:

"Ramazanov is undefeated. He's currently the number one wrestler in the middleweight division in all of Russia. I mean, if you ask all the major wrestling gyms and teams and whatnot. Murad is by far the best, obviously the best in Dagestan."

It's been known that the Caucasus region of Russia has one of the best wrestling programs in the world. The unforgiving mountainous terrain has served as a hotbed of supreme wrestling for many years and has produced many world champions.

Murad Ramazanov is just the latest to come out of the ultra-dominant stable of MMA fighters and grapplers hailing from the Republic of Dagestan. You have MMA icon Khabib Nurmagomedov, Bellator lightweight king Usman Nurmagomedov, UFC lightweight champ Islam Makhachev, and surging ONE lightweight Saygid Izagakhmaev, just to name a few.

If Murad Ramazanov is indeed the best wrestler from Dagestan in his weight class, then this means he might be the best in the world. Gold will surely be on the horizon for him - he just needs to get past Roberto Soldic first.

ONE double-champ Christian Lee thinks Murad Ramazanov vs. Roberto Soldic is a world title eliminator

ONE lightweight and welterweight king Christian Lee recently expressed his thoughts on the upcoming bout between Murad Ramazanov and Roberto Soldic. Before his historic, double-champ-winning bout at ONE on Prime Video 4, 'The Warrior' appeared in an interview with The MMA Super-fan.

When asked about the implications of the bout between the Dagestani wrestler and the Croatian MMA sensation, Lee said:

“I think that’s a title eliminator fight. I think that whoever wins that fight will be next in line for the belt. Ramazanov, I believe he has three wins in the welterweight division, a very impressive record. He could have been next in line for the welterweight shot as well. And with Roberto coming in, bringing the resume that he has, I think definitely the winner of that fight will be next.”

Weeks after the interview, Lee went on to defeat Kiamrian Abbasov via knockout to win ONE's 185-pound world title. Now that he has both the ONE lightweight and welterweight belts hoisted on each shoulder, Lee will be defending two thrones.
