Oscar De La Hoya is among the list of boxers who have come out in support of Vasiliy Lomachenko.

'Loma' made his long-awaited return on Saturday night against Devin Haney. The two lightweight stars headlined an ESPN pay-per-view card, with the bout promising to be one of the best of 2023. In the end, the fight lived up to the hype.

Well, for the most part. The two lightweight stars went back and forth for 12 rounds, with many feeling that the Ukranian did much better of the work. In the tenth round, Lomachenko even rocked Haney, putting him in the most danger of his career thus far.

However, the lightweight champion survived and wound up retaining his title by unanimous decision. The decision has proved to be very controversial, with many believing that Vasiliy Lomachenko deserved the victory. The judging only became more controversial when it was revealed that Dave Morett scored round ten for Haney.

Since the fight, several names have come out in support of the Ukranian boxer. Now, Oscar De La Hoya has done the same. In an interview with InsideFighting, 'The Golden Boy' opined:

"Look, I was front row, center, and I was watching the fight carefully. I literally had Lomachenko, and I love Haney, he's one of the master boxers in the sport today. I had Lomachenko 8-4, 7-5 at worst. It was pretty bad... I was studying the fight carefully, and trust me, 'Loma' won."

Who else thought Vasiliy Lomachenko defeated Devin Haney?

While Devin Haney's win over Vasiliy Lomachenko is far from the worst decision of all time, it's proving to be unpopular.

Likely due to the hype heading into the fight, there's a lot of anger at the controversial decision. The bout has already been compared to the 2017 outing between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin.

In that outing, 'GGG' did much of the better work, but ended up drawing with the more popular, and younger boxer. In this case, it's even more controversial, considering 'The Dream' walked away with the win, while even Alvarez didn't.

Nonetheless, the list of boxers who have disagreed with the decision has been large. On Twitter, Boxing Kingdom reported that names such as Ryan Garcia, Terence Crawford, Andre Ward, and more have all stated that Vasiliy Lomachenko deserved the win on Saturday night.
