Due to the wild ride of controversies, backlash, and debates during the 2024 Summer Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to not hold any boxing events in the 2028 Los Angeles Games. This will be the first time the Olympics will not have boxing matches in over a 100 years.

This was the first topic of Oscar De La Hoya's viral weekly rant, Clapback Thursday on Instagram. The former world champion said:

"So last week I questioned the IOC, the International Olympic Committee, on their decision to drop boxing from the 2028 Olympic Games in LA. And I asked if this choice had anything to do with the insanity that overshadowed this past Summer Games."

De La Hoya continued:

"So a few days ago a medical report was leaked confirming that Imane Khelif was in fact born a biological male with male organs! Holy sh*t! So this means the IOC actually condoned a man assaulting women in public! And rewarded him with a gold medal. What the f*ck is going on?"

De La Hoya then proceeded to mention safety as his paramount concern when it comes to allowing individuals like Khelif fight women and putting said women's lives in danger. He also criticized the IOC's removal of boxing while still retaining breakdancing, a sport which also garnered a lot of mixed reactions at the Summer Games.

Oscar De La Hoya's early reaction to Imane Khelif controversy: "I've lost all my respect for the IOC"

Earlier this year, in a Clapback Thursday epsiode on X, Oscar De La Hoya expressed his early frustrations on the controversy surrounding Imane Khelif's participation in women's boxing at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Needless to say, his opinion back then hasn't changed much.

De La Hoya, an Olympic boxing gold medalist himself, admitted that he lost faith in the IOC after allowing what he believed to be biological males competing in a sport that's potentially lethal to one's life.

De La Hoya said:

"I have to ask, what in te f*ck is going on in Paris this year? Where two biological men are competing against biological women in the sport of boxing? The IOC allowed this to happen and it's saying it's okay because they're females in their passports. Wait, what? Are you kidding me? There is zero chance that these fighters are evenly matched. It's impossible and it's scary. It's disgusting and it's unfair. I've lost all my respect for the IOC."

Towards the end of his rant, De La Hoya said that he'll petition the IOC to not allow this kind of match-making at the 2028 Games. It looks like he got what he wanted - sort of.
