Power Slap 9 just concluded and as the surging promotion's first trip internationally came to a close, we saw John Davis vs. Isaih Quinones finish with a massive KO. 'The Machine' looked to defend his middleweight title a record third time but was handily flatlined by 'Pretty Boy'.
Taking place in the Space42 Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Dana White's controversial slapfighting experiment hasn't lost steam as it broadcasted in the same week as UFC 308. One of the highlights of the night was definitely the bout between Davis and Quinones.
Coming into the contest, former Power Slap middleweight king Davis was looking to make history by becoming the first man to defend his Power Slap belt a third straight time. As for Quinones, his less-than-stellar record of 2-2 made him the underdog.
Here's a trailer of John Davis vs. Isaih Quinones:
Quinones won the coin toss and was given the opportunity to slap first, landing a solid connection on the defending champ. Davis ate it like the champ that he is. Once it was Davis' turn, a long wind-up allowed him to essentially land with his hand and forearm across Quinones' face, instantly causing a huge red mark on the challenger's face.
Upon viewing the replay, however, it was deemed that Quinones flinched on the initial strike by Davis, a clear foul. This allowed the defending champion to strike again. With already a massive welt on his face, Quinones ate the second slap as if it was nothing.
Here's a video of Davis's second slap:
In the second round, Quinones landed a thunderous second slap which caused Davis to toddle a little bit. After being given 40 seconds to recover, it was the defending champ's turn to slap. Once again Quinones commited a foul flinching before he got hit, prompting the referee to deduct a point from the challenger. Davis was allowed to strike again after this, which Quinones easily ate again.
John Davis vs. Isaih Quinones came to a close in round 3, where the challenger absolutely sent the defending champion to the negative zone with a clubbing blow. Perhaps the point deduction lit a fire under his backside as he handed Davis the first KO loss of his slapfighting career.

John Davis vs. Isaih Quinones was the co-main event of Power Slap 9. The main event saw Koa 'The Crazy Haiiwan' Viernes defend his super heavyweight belt against Russian powerhouse Vasilii 'Dumpling' Kamotskii. The bout ended in a draw.
