UFC fans on Reddit recently discussed who's the worst fighter when it comes to meeting weight - and Kelvin Gastelum was the poster boy. The youngest Ultimate Fighter winner has had more than a few weight misses in his over-a-decade stint in the UFC.

Fans posted the question:

"Couldn't even make a catchweight of 180.. Is our boy the worst weight cutter of all time?"

The fans were talking about the upcoming bout between Gastelum and Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Saudi Arabia this weekend. Initially booked for welterweight (170 pounds), the fight was later changed into a 180-pound catch-weight bout. Still, Gastelum's camp insisted he couldn't make the weight so the contest has been ultimately changed to middleweight (185 pounds).

"Ray borg’s up there but he wasn’t missing by 15 fuckin pounds lmao"

Ray Borg is a retired former UFC flyweight who failed to meet the scales on five different occasions in his career.

To this, MMABowyer said:

"And it’s not like Borg had a lot left to cut, Gastelum literally just doesn’t put in the work to get in shape enough to be able to cut that much. Bro looks like me 😂and as a pro athlete fighting at 170, you shouldn’t be lookin like me (not this pic 😂but regular)"

Full history of Kelvin Gastelum's weight misses in the UFC

Kelvin Gastelum debuted in the UFC as the welterweight winner of 'The Ultimate Fighter Season 17' back in 2013, becoming the youngest to ever win the show.

Gastelum's first weight miss happened a year later, where he missed by 1 and 3/4 of a pound in his bout with Nico Musoke. Two bouts later, he missed weight again in his bout with former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley. He missed by a staggering 10 pounds.

Due to missing weight on two different occasions, UFC president Dana White decided to move Gastelum up to middleweight. After just one bout at 185 pounds, however, he went back down to welterweight, where he made weight three straight times.

Upon his scheduled bout with Donald Cerrone Gastelum once again missed weight, prompting the promotion to move him to middleweight again.

After eight fights at middleweight, Gastelum was fined by the NYSAC for allegedly cheating on the scale to make weight in his fight with Darren Till. In 2023, he returned to welterweight and successfully beat the scales two consecutive times.

At UFC Saudi Arabia, Gastelum will be returning to middleweight against Daniel Rodriguez.
