Reece McLaren says "one-dimensional" Jarred Brooks is way too predictable: "He always looks to try and wrestle"

Reece McLaren thinks Jarred Brooks relies way too much on his wrestling, so much so that it makes him a one-trick pony.

The Australian fighter has burned the midnight oil preparing for his flyweight MMA assignment against 'The Monkey God' at ONE Fight Night 26, which broadcasts live from the Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, Dec. 6.

While the No. 4-ranked contender has plenty of praise for the interim ONE strawweight MMA world champion, the 33-year-old sees some flaws that he could potentially take advantage of on fight night in Bangkok, Thailand.

Addressing the subject matter, Reece McLaren told ONE Championship:

"I kind of feel he is a little bit one-dimensional with his wrestling offense. He moves a lot, and then he always looks to try and wrestle."

Though there is some truth to 'Lightning's' statement, the Mash Fight Team representative's area of expertise isn't just limited to the mats.

Brooks captured the strawweight gold from Joshua Pacio at ONE 164 by displaying some impressive work on the feet that blended well with his go-to weapons on the canvas.

And he'll be more than pleased to let McLaren taste his bite on the feet firsthand when they lock horns at ONE Fight Night 26.

Reece McLaren all-in to complete world title dream in ONE Championship

Though Reece McLaren's focus is strictly on Jarred Brooks, the Australian representative can't help but look beyond his upcoming opponent if he gets his hand raised.

The 33-year-old talent has been a mainstay in the promotion's flyweight bracket. Unfortunately, every time he took a step in the right direction towards the divisional gold, one factor or another threw a spanner in the works.

With the gold now vacated by Demetrious Johnson, McLaren finally feels it is his time to cash in on the coveted prize.

On his world title aspirations, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist told the promotion:

"With DJ retiring, I think for sure I'll put my name way up at the top for a shot for the vacant belt coming off a good win. Look, I think I was scheduled to fight for that title so long ago that that title still wears on me. So I kind of feel like that still needs to happen."

ONE Fight Night 26 will be available to active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America on Friday, Dec. 6.
