Former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty is scheduled to make his long-awaited return to the Circle on November 19th as the promotion returns to the Singapore Indoor Stadium. ‘The General’ will move up to the bantamweight division for the first time in his career, facing Russian standout Vladmir Kuzmin.

Before ‘The General’ makes his triumphant return at ONE on Prime Video 4, the promotion is giving fans a reminder of exactly who Jonathan Haggerty is, highlighting his world title-winning performance against Sam-A Gaiyanghadao from ONE: For Honor in May 2019.

On that night, Jonathan Haggerty scored a unanimous decision victory over Sam-A to capture his first ONE world title. Unfortunately, Haggerty’s reign only lasted three months as he was unseated by reigning champion, ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Squaring off with the Muay Thai icon in back-to-back bouts, Haggerty and Rodtang delivered fans two of the greatest fights in ONE Championship history.

Jonathan Haggerty wants a mixed-rules bout with Demetrious Johnson

At ONE Championship’s 10th-anniversary showcase ONE: X, the promotion broke new ground, delivering fans a unique mixed-rules bout between current flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and the flyweight Muay Thai titleholder Rodtang Jitmuangnon. It was a highly entertaining affair that saw the rules alternate between Muay Thai and MMA after each round.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, ‘The General’ shared his desire to face ‘Mighty Mouse’ in a mixed-rules bout, believing he will present a much tougher challenger for the pound-for-pound great than ‘The Iron Man’ did:

"I said it when that fight got announced... I would definitely be a harder fight. My skillset is... more advanced on the ground than what Rodtang's is. All that takedown defense. My dad's got his own gym. I've been in the gym since I was a young boy, since I was like six or seven. I been growing up around MMA fighters, I've been joining classes."

Demetrious Johnson went on to win the mixed-rules contest with Rodtang, submitting the Muay Thai icon in the second round after surviving the Muay Thai-only opening round.
