It’s been a while since Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Jonathan Haggerty shared the ring, but the memory of those two wars still lingers, especially for the Haggerty camp. Rodtang won both times, first via unanimous decision and then via TKO. But according to Freddie Haggerty, Jonathan’s younger brother, that doesn’t mean a third clash shouldn’t happen.
In fact, the younger Haggerty believes the trilogy has been long overdue, and that Rodtang is the reason it’s gone quiet.
"Sounds like Rodtang has done a bit of running," Freddie said. "He was all for it and everything, and then it's sort of just gone under the radar. Now, like no one really knows what's happening. I don't think Jon really knows what's happening. It was a guarantee that it was happening - number three - Jon was up for it, but Rodtang put a post up, and then Jon said, 'yeah, let's do it'. And nothing's really happened out of it now, but I'm not really sure. I'd love to see it."
With both men now having held gold in their own divisions, Rodtang still ruling flyweight, and Haggerty leading the bantamweight pack, a trilogy would carry even more weight than before.

"It's my turn now to get the win" - Jonathan Haggerty confident he’ll gain one over Rodtang in possible trilogy
Despite dropping both previous matchups, Jonathan Haggerty hasn’t lost faith. A lot has changed since their last encounter, including his move up in weight and a string of dominant performances that led to three world titles across two sports and two weight divisions.
"Yeah, definitely. I think it’s my turn now to get the win," he said. "It will be at bantamweight if it were to happen. Flyweight is just not suitable for me if I’m honest. Yeah, I’m excited to see if it does happens."
