Rodtang Jitmuangnon commended former ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Ilias Ennahachi for vacating his ONE world championship after being unable to safely make weight for his scheduled title defense on Friday night.

Ennahachi was scheduled to defend his belt against ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video co-main event on January 13. Ennahachi reportedly informed the promotion that he would be unable to make weight for the matchup. As a result, Ennahachi vacated his world title.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Rodtang Jitmuangnon expressed much respect to Ennahachi for owning up to his inability to make the weight and making the tough choice to relinquish his title.

“I respect his spirit and his sportsmanship to come forward and tell that he will not be able to make weight. Like in boxing, when you cannot make weight you just have to change weight classes. It’s normal.”

Fans will still be treated to a flyweight kickboxing world title fight as Daniel Puertas steps into the co-main event to take on Superlek for the vacant crown. The fight and many more will air live and for free in U.S. primetime on Amazon Prime Video with an active subscription to the streaming service.

Rodtang believes Superlek needs to switch up his style for new opponent Daniel Puertas

When it comes to getting a new opponent, it typically means preparing a new game plan. That’s exactly what Rodtang Jitmuangnon suggests that Superlek do now that he’s facing Daniel Puertas for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship at ONE Fight Night 6 this Friday night.

Continuing his conversation with SCMP MMA, ‘The Iron Man’ believes Superlek needs to adjust his style, saying:

"It depends on how Superlek is preparing for this fight because Puertas is a very great kickboxing fighter. If Superlek is fighting the same way he fought the same way as he did before it would be a little bit harder."

While Superlek Kiatmoo9 primarily fights in the art of eight limbs, his last kickboxing match inside the circle was a world title match against Ennahachi in 2021. ‘The Kicking Machine’ will have a second crack at kickboxing gold when he straps on the 16oz gloves once again against the two-time ISKA kickboxing world champion in Puertas.

Will Superlek capture his first ONE world championship this Friday night, or will Daniel Puertas be the man strapping 26.4 pounds of gold around his waist inside Impact Arena?
