During her appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, 'Rowdy' noted that retiring undefeated would have negatively impacted the UFC's women's roster. She said:

"Retiring undefeated would have been such a selfish goal to be able to accomplish, because I would have taken all that equity with me and no one would have respected the rest of the women that I left behind."

At the height of her career, 'Rowdy' was highly sought after in ventures outside the octagon, which resulted in her schedule being a lot to balance. She continued to defend her women's bantamweight championship while also venturing into Hollywood. She had a major role in 'The Expendable 3' alongside a star-studded cast that included Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham.

Rousey had come off a year-long layoff following her first career loss to Holly Holm and was looking to regain the women's bantamweight championship. Nunes, on the other hand, was making her first title defense after defeating Miesha Tate to become the new champion at UFC 200.

It was a dominant performance by Nunes as she landed a flurry of powerful strikes early en route to a TKO win at 0:48 of the first round. UFC 207 marked the final time fans would see Rousey competing in MMA as she went on to sign with WWE the following year.
