Sage Northcutt is splitting time between Texas and California to prepare for his MMA return.

On May 5, Northcutt will fight for the first time since May 2019. After establishing himself as one of the biggest prospects in MMA, ‘Super’ endured several brutal setbacks. The 26-year-old had to recover from facial fractures suffered in his disappointing ONE debut and then overcome a severe case of COVID-19.

Northcutt never gave up, and now he’s fully recovered in time for ONE’s North American debut in May. During an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, the American had this to say about his preparations for ONE Fight Night 10:

“[I’m in] Texas, back and forth from Texas to California. I’ve been training super hard. Right now, I just started my training camp at Team Alpha Male, up in Sacramento at the moment. So a little bit of both.”

When Northcutt isn’t training at Team Alpha Male, he’s improving his ground game at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu in Austin, Texas. The 26-year-old will take on Ahmed Mujtaba in his long-awaited return. According to the former kickboxer, he doesn’t plan on slowing down after ONE Fight Night 10.

Sage Northcutt is "looking forward to a long and successful career"

After several years passed, MMA fans weren’t sure if Sage Northcutt would ever return. Not only is the American going to fight again, but he’s also planning on competing for the foreseeable future.

During the same interview with Ariel Helwani, Northcutt had this to say about just getting started:

"Being 26 years old right now, I’m still extremely young, so I’m looking forward to a long and successful career. I feel like I’m just getting started, and I’m still so young that I can have a lot of fights."

Northcutt was a full-blown superstar when he signed with ONE Championship. Unfortunately, he suffered a devastating knockout against Cosmo Alexandre, leading to a lengthy layoff.

Although ‘Super’ still has the skills to be a world champion, the 26-year-old isn’t as popular with the new generation of MMA fans that have emerged over the last few years. He now has an opportunity to put everyone on notice at ONE Fight Night 10.
