‘Super’ Sage Northcutt will make his long-awaited return to competition nearly three years after suffering a bone-shattering knockout in his ONE Championship debut.

Northcutt will be part of a historic night for the Asia-based promotion as they make their debut in the United States. Invading the 1stBank Center in Colorado on May 5, ONE Championship will present ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a ONE flyweight world championship trilogy bout between reigning champion Demetrious Johnson and former titleholder Adriano Moraes.

In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Super’ Sage shared his excitement over making his comeback fight at what will certainly be a memorable night for combat sports fans around the world:

“Oh man, I’ll tell you what, it feels so good to be back. It’s been a while. I’ve been itching to get back. Not only that, getting the fight in the United States, the first U.S. card for ONE Championship, I couldn’t be more excited for that.”

Sage Northcutt made his ONE debut back in May 2019, taking on dangerous kickboxer Cosmo Alexandre. The contest ended almost as quickly as it started, with Alexandre landing a devastating hook that immediately floored Northcutt. ‘Super’ suffered eight fractures to his face that took his doctors nine hours to repair.

Sage Northcutt is ready to get back to work on May 5

By the time Sage Northcutt steps back into the Circle on May 5, it will have been almost three years to the day since his last fight. Ready to make up for lost time, ‘Super’ plans to put on a show for the U.S. audience and those watching around the world:

“Obviously [the goal is to] be successful out there and show ONE Championship that I’m able to go out there and perform, to meet the expectations of what they want. I want to go out there and put on a great performance.”

Northcutt will face a tough test in his highly anticipated return as he squares off with Ahmed ‘Wolverine’ Mujtaba. Hailing from Pakistan, Mujtaba will enter the bout with four wins under the ONE Championship banner and a 10-2 record overall. The Pakistani MMA champion is currently riding a two-fight win streak. ‘Wolverine’ scored a first-round knockout of Rahuul Raju then followed it up with a first-round submission of Abraao Amorim in November.

Wherever the fight goes, Mujtaba will be prepared to go and spoil Sage Northcutt’s comeback.
