American mixed martial arts fighter Sage Northcutt will make his long-awaited return to action in May and knows exactly what he wants to do.

‘Super’ Sage battles Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight collision at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in Broomfield, Colorado.

It will be ONE Championship’s first-ever live event in the United States and marks Northcutt's comeback after a four-year hiatus.

Speaking to ONE, the 26-year-old fighter said he is very excited to finally compete again and is aiming for an early finish against a streaking Mujtaba and not leave anything to doubt.

Sage Northcutt said:

“Whether it’s a submission, whether it’s ground-and-pound, or it’s a knockout, whatever it is, everybody wants a finish. That would be the ideal way to win, but you know I’m training for any aspect out there, so that way I’m prepared.”

Since signing up with ONE Championship in 2018, Sage Northcutt has had only one fight, which he lost to Brazilian Cosmo Alexandre by way of a devastating early knockout in the first round in May 2019.

The loss resulted in multiple facial fractures that required surgery and considerable recovery time.

He was set to face off with Japanese legend Shinya Aoki in April 2022 but had to pull out because of the lingering effects from COVID-19.

Mujtaba, for his part, has won back-to-back fights and is looking to continue to roll in the promotion. ONE Fight Night 10 will happen at 1stBank Center in Broomfield and is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Sage Northcutt posts rare post-training photo for the first time in months

Months before his return to action was announced, Sage Northcutt already whetted fight fans’ appetite with a post-training photo on Instagram.

The photo, posted seven months ago, had a caption that read:

“Putting in work!”

After a four-year interruption in his career brought about by health issues, including effects from COVID-19, and a long recovery, Northcutt is set to make his comeback in ONE Championship’s first-ever live event in the United States in May.

The American fighter will face Pakistani fighter Ahmed Mujtaba in a lightweight battle at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 in Broomfield, Colorado.

Sage Northcutt was last seen in action against Brazilian striker Cosmo Alexandre in 2019 where he lost by knockout in the first round, resulting in multiple facial fractures that kept him sidelined after.

Of late, he has been working on various facets of his game with his team in the United States, including his speed and power, to make his comeback something to remember with a performance that hometown fans can appreciate and enjoy.
