Sean Strickland was on the receiving end of a highlight finish at UFC 276 after being stopped by Alex Pereira in the very first round. However, the overall punch stats were reasonably close, with only ten total strikes separating the two fighters.

Strickland landed a total of 15 strikes at UFC 276, with the Brazilian outlanding the American, landing 25 strikes during the contest. All of the strikes thrown during the fight were deemed significant by the UFC.

However, Alex Pereira had much more variety to his striking, landing just 20% of his strikes to the head, 48% to the body and 32% on the American's legs. Whereas Strickland didn't land a single leg kick but instead focused 60% of his strikes on Pereira's head.

Strickland will be hoping to put this highlight-reel loss behind him in December, when taking on Jared Cannonier at the UFC Apex Center. Luckily, his future opponent is also coming into the bout after tasting defeat, with 'Killa Gorilla' losing a unanimous decision against Israel Adesanya.

The December 17th UFC Fight Night card is looking set to be a great night of fights. Arman Tsarukyan vs. Damir Ismagulov is one of the showcase bouts on the card, with Brandon Royval, Julian Marquez and Said Nurmagomedov just a few of the other names on the card.

How many times has Sean Strickland lost via stoppage in the UFC?

Despite Sean Strickland losing four-times in the UFC (most recently via first-round stoppage against Alex Pereira), the American has only been stopped once more in his organizational career.

Elizeu Zaleski also got the better of the American, with the Brazilian stopping Strickland in the first round at UFC 224 in 2018. Zaleski was recently given a one-year ban by USADA after failing a drugs test before facing Mounir Lazzez.

The Brazilian's bout against Lazzez was meant to take place at UFC Fight Night: Luque vs. Muhammad 2. Unless the ban is overturned, Zaleski will be out of action for a while and has seemingly been removed from the UFC roster.

Sean Strickland's only other losses in the UFC came via decision, with both Kamaru Usman and Santiago Ponzinibbio getting the better of the American on the scorecards.
