ONE bantamweight contender Stephen Loman paid close attention to ONE on Prime Video 3's main event title clash between John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade. 'The Sniper' believes it was clear who was leading the dance.
Prior to the fight, Andrade asserted that he'd be the superior striker and even turn Lineker into a wrestler, which is exactly what happened. Loman shared his thoughts on the fight in an interview with The MMA Super-Fan. He said:
"Both Andrade and Lineker really showed their striking game but I saw that Andrade was really the sharper one between them. I even saw Lineker shoot for a takedown but even then Andrade still had the advantage. Andrade easily got up after Lineker’s takedown attempt, and that added another layer during their match."
Andrade took to Instagram after the fight to share his thoughts on the unintentional groin strike which ultimately ended the bout in a no-contest.
Stephen Loman vs. Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4
Loman – who's currently ranked No.5 at bantamweight – is preparing to face former long-time champion Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4.
The 30-year-old will be entering ONE's circle for just the third time, while his opponent will be making his 15th appearance for the promotion.
Whoever comes out on top in this bantamweight contender matchup will be in prime position to compete for a world title. For Fernandes, it would be his third title reign if he were to eventually secure the belt.
All of this plays into why Stephen Loman kept such a close eye on the recent bantamweight championship bout. 'The Sniper' had this to say about the contest:
"The fight was really great, it was amazing to watch, but the ending was really unexpected. You really didn’t expect that it was going to end that way."
Everyone within the mixed martial arts world is disappointed with the fight's conclusion. The belt now remains vacant due to Lineker missing weight in the lead-up to the fight.
