Stephen Loman wears Team Lakay’s famous axiom, “champions are not born, they are made,” like a badge of honor.

Benefiting from one of Asia’s premier MMA teams, Loman feels a great deal of responsibility to be the best version of himself in order to inspire the next generation of fighters.

According to Loman, one way to do that is to etch his name on the legendary wall of champions at Team Lakay, alongside the likes of current ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio and former two-time ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang.

However, achieving world-class status is easier said than done, as Loman admitted in a recent interview. It’s a product of hard work, discipline and strong mental drive.

The Filipino-native told The MMA Superfan:

“Actually it’s hard to always be at the top, but I feel that our status in the sport is an inspiration to the new generation. We always feel that younger people look up to us and that we inspire them to actually follow their dreams or follow our footsteps.”

Stephen Loman is writing his own story as a member of Team Lakay. He arrived at ONE Championship in December 2021 with an impressive MMA resume. Holding multiple world titles under Brave CF, Loman has a great chance to become a ONE world champion someday.

However, with three straight wins and a high-stakes bantamweight showdown with Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4, Stephen Loman might be getting that title shot sooner than expected.

Team Lakay motivates Stephen Loman to do his best

Training with the top coaches and Muay Thai strikers at Team Lakay has been a motivating factor for Stephen Loman to give nothing less than his best.

His desire to be a high-level and well-rounded martial artist is fueled by the success of his team, so it’s not difficult to wake up in the mornings and put the work in.

In the same interview, Loman said:

“Being on top, too, is actually pretty motivating whenever we train. You’re always doing your best and you keep pushing yourself to maintain your position at the top.”

As one of the biggest fights of his career looms around the corner, Stephen Loman goes in with the relief that win or lose, he’s got his band of brothers from Team Lakay supporting him every step of the way.
