‘The Sniper’ Stephen Loman has emerged as a serious bantamweight contender since signing with ONE Championship. The Team Lakay fighter has produced back-to-back wins, earning him a No.5-ranking in one of the promotion's most talent-stacked divisions.

At ONE on Prime Video 4, Stephen Loman will face the biggest test of his career to date when he takes on former ONE bantamweight world champion, Bibiano Fernandes.

In an interview with The MMA Super-Fan, ‘The Sniper’ broke down his preparations for the fight and how he is approaching a potential game plan:

“I saw that Bibiano also has his weaknesses, he has holes in his standup game. If I can take him down, then I’ll do it, but I want to do it when I get the right timing, and I’m at the right speed to actually shoot for it.”

Bibiano Fernandes will be looking to rebound from his loss earlier this year to John Lineker, a fight which saw an end to his second world championship reign. Despite losing the fight, Fernandes gave a great account of himself and proved that his upcoming fight with Loman cannot be dismissed as a changing of the guard.

"It’s about pressuring him" - Stephen Loman believes he has the key to beating Bibiano Fernandes

Stepping in for the biggest fight of his career to date, Stephen Loman believes he has what it takes to defeat Bibiano Fernandes at ONE on Prime Video 4. The No.5-ranked bantamweight contender observed and took notes from John Lineker’s victory over the former titleholder earlier this year.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Loman revealed what he learnt from Lineker’s performance against Fernandes and one aspect of the fight that he can draw from.

The Filipino fighter said:

“It’s about pressuring him. Could be in striking, wrestling, or on the ground. It’s all the facets of MMA.”

Despite Fernandes’ loss, Loman isn’t ready to discount the significance of this fight or the position that the former champion is in coming off of a loss:

“I don’t think so. He’s still the champion Bibiano that we know. He still has that striking and wrestling prowess, that superb control over his opponent on the ground, and submission maneuvers. He didn’t rust at all.”

Stephen Loman has gone 2-0 since joining ONE Championship and now finds himself potentially one win away from a shot at world championship gold. At ONE on Prime Video 4, a bantamweight world title challenger may be revealed.
