Michael Bisping thinks Stipe Miocic has a "powerful motivator" to beat Jon Jones at UFC 309
Heading into the UFC 309 showdown, Jon Jones is a massive -700 favorite while Stipe Miocic is a +500 underdog. Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping broke down Jones vs. Miocic in a video on his YouTube channel.
Bisping noted that the MMA community is not giving Miocic much chance solely based on his brutal KO loss against Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 in March 2021; and the long layoff that followed.
Contrary to popular opinion, Bisping argued that the time away from competition could have helped Miocic rejuvenate and recover. He hypothesized that the circumstances might give Miocic the motivation to pull off an underdog win against Jones:
"Stipe Miocic knows the entire world is talking about Jon Jones, will he or won't he fight Tom Aspinall, the interim champion? Don't tell me that doesn't piss you off. When you're someone like Stipe Miocic, a proud man, a very capable man, a former champion. ... And people are just overlooking you, Jesus Christ. ... That is a powerful motivator!"
