Tammi Musumeci admits she’s thought about choosing a ‘less stressful’ hobby

As much as Tammi Musumeci loves competing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), the multi-time IBJJF world champion admits that she probably should have chosen a less stressful hobby.

Musumeci, the older sister of ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci, made her promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video. She opened the card with a decision victory over ADCC and IBJFF world champion Bianca Basilio.

Following the match, Musumeci was already talking about making her return to the circle but admitted that choosing a less stressful hobby may have been a wiser choice at times:

“I feel like, sometimes I think about it and be like, ‘Maybe I should have chosen a hobby that’s less stressful and you can’t get injured’. But yeah, I work full-time. I work a normal job and I try to train as full-time as possible."

When she’s not dominating opponents on the mat, Tammi Musumeci works as a full-time lawyer after receiving her degree from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2020.

Despite the stress of essentially holding down two jobs, Tammi Musumeci was clearly feeling the high of earning her first victory inside the circle and expressed a desire to become a ONE world champion like her brother.

Mikey Musumeci was a very proud younger brother after witnessing his sister score her first win under the ONE Championship banner last Friday night. Taking to Instagram, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ shared details of the work Tammi Musumeci puts into training while simultaneously holding down a professional career.

"Tammi wins her @onechampionship debut!!!! So freaking proud of her. 😭She wakes up 4:30 am everyday to do cardio before working as a lawyer, does stairs in the middle of the day at her job, and then trains at night immediately after work! No one works harder than my sister. She inspires me so much. Can’t wait for us to be on the same card together ❤️. I want to thank @rlo702jj for helping her prepare while I was overseas; he is an amazing coach and friend."

Mikey Musumeci will attempt to get back into the win column himself in just a few weeks when ONE Championship heads to the 1stBank Center in Colorado for ONE Fight Night 10. The reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion will defend his world title for the second time against Yemen’s Osamah Almarwai.
