“Very tough decision” - Thanh Le has a hard time picking against Fabricio Andrade in John Lineker world title clash

Former ONE featherweight world champion Thanh Le has given his prediction for the main event of ONE on Prime Video 3.

Veteran John Lineker will face surging contender Fabricio Andrade in a clash between two Brazilians at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. No stranger to highlight reel knockouts himself, Thanh Lee struggled to pick a definitive winner for Friday night’s most anticipated contest.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Le gave a slight advantage to the up-and-coming challenger:

“Very tough decision, but I think I’m going to give the edge to Andrade. Lineker is dangerous and can always end the fight in a blink [of an eye], but I think Andrade’s lengthy striking matches up really well against Lineker.”

Andrade’s precision striking has seen him finish his last three opponents in the first round but halting the relentless pressure of John Lineker is a different task entirely. Le is yet to make a return to the circle after losing his featherweight title via a unanimous decision to Tang Kai at ONE 160 in August of this year.

“No one is snagging my flag” - Thanh Le proud to represent Vietnam and the United States in ONE

Speaking before his ONE featherweight world championship defense at ONE 160 in August, Thanh Le talked about his national pride.

Representing both Vietnam and the United States, Le walked to the cage draped in the US flag. Being able to champion both his heritage and the country he calls home in ONE Championship is not something he takes lightly.

In an interview with ONE Championship ahead of his fight with Tang Kai, Thanh Le spoke about a moment in the UFC earlier this year where a Chinese fighter was prevented from celebrating with his country’s flag:

“Absolute bullsh*t and is unacceptable. I’m not sure the reason behind it, but if you want to make money off of my performances, I should definitely be allowed to represent my country of origin."

Whilst he acknowledged that there may have been a reason for this, Le proposed that if there are restrictions on representing your nation, then it shouldn't just be limited to flags:

“If we’re going to keep nations out of it… there shouldn’t be flags, colored shorts [representing country colors] or anything like that… and yes, no one is snagging my flag, ever."
