Francis Ngannou's return to MMA as he knocked out Renan Ferreira in the PFL inspired massive reactions from many. This encompassed everyone from the layman MMA fan to some of the biggest sports figures on the planet.
This came across from Cristiano Ronaldo's reaction to the ground-and-pound barrage in the opening round, which led to Ngannou winning his promotional debut via stoppage. A clip of the soccer superstar was captured cageside and shared to the PFL MMA account on X with Ronaldo letting out a loud enthusiastic reaction.
Ronaldo left his chair as the referee waved off the action, while the global superstar was seen shouting yes as the lineal MMA heavyweight champion kept that championship against last year's PFL tournament champion.
Several X users responded to the clip with their take on Ronaldo's reaction to Ngannou's victory returning to MMA after almost three years away from it.

Francis Ngannou and Cristiano Ronaldo's emotional meeting backstage
Francis Ngannou and Cristiano Ronaldo have a certain connectivity as evidenced by the clip above but this was also apparent in their pre-fight interactions.
The 38-year-old was fighting for his son Kobe who tragically passed away prematurely at fifteen months old in April. Ngannou had a massive emotional weight on him heading into the fight as he shed tears following his monumental win.
Ronaldo had lost his son during the childbirth process in 2022 so this sort of unfathomable pain is something that the two can empathize with one another on despite the circumstances being a bit different in each instance.
'The Predator' spoke to the soccer star about this and Ngannou's coach Eric Nicksick, speaking to MMA Junkie post-fight, said Ronaldo felt Ngannou's energy which led to this effort at offering words of encouragement. The Cameroon native and Cristiano Ronaldo connected to such an extent that Nicksick had also mentioned how the Al Nassr star was part of the team.
