Reigning and undisputed ONE heavyweight, light heavyweight, and middleweight MMA world champion 'Sladkiy' Anatoly Malykhin of Russia has done the impossible.
No man before him has ever held three major MMA world titles in three different weight classes all at the same time, but Malykhin made it look easy.
Naturally, fans question his ability to move up and down three divisions to defend all three belts. But Malykhin says not to worry, as he plans on defending them all.
Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Malykhin expressed his intent to stay three-division king for good.
The 36-year-old Golden Team representative said:
"Every defense is important to me, they are equal to me, I don’t differentiate. I’m getting 100 percent ready to defend each one of my belts. I don’t differentiate between them, they are all very important to me."
Malykhin captured the interim heavyweight MMA world title with a victory over Belarusian standout Kirill Grishenko in February 2022. He then knocked out Reinier de Ridder that same year to take the ONE light heavyweight MMA gold.
Last year, Malykhin unified the heavyweight throne by taking out Arjan Bhullar of India, before finally taking the middleweight MMA strap from De Ridder earlier this year to become triple champ.
It's been a long journey for Malykhin, but the Kemerovo native says he's just getting started.
