Professional boxer and No.40-ranked WBC cruiserweight Viddal Riley has called out Tommy Fury for a fight within hours of him being added to the rankings at No.39.

Viddal Riley (8-0-0) is an undefeated fighter from London and has knocked out five of the eight opponents he has faced in the boxing ring. Riley has a substantial social media following and is also a YouTuber.

Tommy Fury entered the WBC rankings at No.39 after his unanimous decision victory over Jake Paul at the end of February. The WBC had stated before the fight that they would be adding the winner of the bout to the official rankings at cruiserweight. Riley spoke about Fury being added to the rankings, and why the fight between the two British boxers would make sense. He said this in a YouTube video posted to his channel:

"I'm ranked number 40, Tommy is actually ranked 38, I've seen him say in multiple interviews: 'My goal is to be a world champion’. He preaches that he wants to be a world champion. I am not currently world championship quality. I have the potential to be - and I will get there - but as it stands I'm not”.

Riley then suggested that Fury should stop talking about wanting to be a world champion if he’s not willing to step up and face ranked opponents:

"So if you have aspirations of being a world champion, as do I, we are close in ranking, it would be a massive fight, the people would turn out. People would turn out for you. People would turn out for me. If that's your aspiration, why look anywhere else? stop the speech about the world champion thing and just say that you're going to move up the Youtubers and make your money. But if you're aspiring for the same thing I'm aspiring for, and the rankings get released like this, 'The Rilest.'".

Tommy Fury’s father names KSI and Salt Papi as potential opponents; discusses future plans for ‘TNT’

John Fury, the father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and younger brother Tommy Fury, spoke to ExpressSport to discuss the future of his son’s boxing career and who he plans to fight next:

“Yep, we’re interested in KSI, he can have it next if he wants. We’re interested in the Salt Papi’s of the world, everybody with a name who thinks they can have a go, can have a go. Even with conventional boxing. If they want to pay the same sort of money as these guys are paying, we'll do the conventional boxing as well, but, after where we’ve been you can’t really box at York Hall, can you?”

‘TNT’ seemingly has no shortage of opponents. KSI recently said he would fight and beat the newly ranked cruiserweight, and Jake Paul still has a rematch clause that has a chance of being activated for a rematch in Saudi Arabia, following Paul’s first defeat of his boxing career.
