Ahead of ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Tye Ruotolo isn’t just confident that he is going to submit Reinier de Ridder, he has called his shot for how it’s going to happen.

As ONE Championship hosts its first ever event in the United States, one of the best no gi grapplers in the world will take one of the best submission specialists in MMA.

After winning bronze in the Absolutes division in the ADCC tournament last year, Tye will look to claim his third win inside the circle after defeating Garry Tonon and Marat Gafurov previously.

For de Ridder, this will be his return to competition after losing his undefeated record at ONE on Prime Video 5 in December.

Before he returns to defend his ONE middleweight world championship, de Ridder will try to prove that he can compete with the best grapplers in the world by taking on one of the Ruotolo twins.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Tye called his shot for which submission he believes he will catch his opponent in as he looks to prove a point in Colorado:

“I plan on D’Arcing him. I know he has a good D’Arce choke, and I definitely want to show him how it’s done correctly. I think it might take a couple of minutes, but I think the D’Arce is the way I want to get him.”

Tye Ruotolo "putting on some muscle" ahead of grappling match with Reinier de Ridder

Tye Ruotolo is no stranger to competing against larger opponents in submission grappling contests.

Whilst he is confident that he has the skills to compete with anyone in the world, Tye knows the restrictions that come with facing a physically bigger and stronger competitor.

As a result, ahead of his clash against ONE middleweight champion Reinier de Ridder at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5, Ruotolo has been putting some extra muscle mass on his frame to even the odds slightly.

Whilst his natural weight class is lightweight, Tye is looking to make the weight difference between the two competitors a bit closer so that he can let his skill do the talking.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Tye Ruotolo said:

“It’s mainly just training super hard and lifting a little bit of weights now fighting these big guys, so I got to start putting on some muscle. And then all the same stuff we always do like surfing and staying active. So it’s been a good camp so far, the body feels great.”
