UFC 281 fight card: How many fights have been confirmed for the upcoming PPV event?

The UFC 281 card is stacked from top to bottom with 14 fights. Middleweight champion Israel 'The Last Stylebender' Adesanya will face Alex 'Poatan' Pereira in the main event.

The five fights expected to take place on the UFC 281 pay-per-view main card are as follows:

UFC 281 Main Card:

Israel Adesanya (C) vs. Alex Pereira (middleweight championship main event)

Carla Esparza (C) vs. Zhang Weili (strawweight championship co-main event)

Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler (lightweight)

Frankie Edgar vs. Chris Gutiérrez (lightweight)

Dan Hooker vs. Claudio Puelles (lightweight)

The main card will feature two title fights, with strawweight champion Carla Esparza battling No.2-ranked contender Zhang Weili in the co-main event.

Esparza is coming off a lackluster fight against Rose Namajunas, from whom she took the title at UFC 274. Weili, meanwhile, is coming off a second-round knockout of former strawweight queen Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 275.

No.2-ranked lightweight Dustin Poirier will face off against No.5-ranked Michael Chandler in what could otherwise be the headliner. Both fighters have been going back and forth on social media and even had an in-person verbal spat at UFC 276.

Frankie Edgar will make his last walk to the octagon against Chris Gutiérrez at Madison Square Garden on November 12. The fight will mark Edgar's 30th appearance in the organization.

Elsewhere, Dan Hooker will look to overturn his two-fight losing streak against Claudio Puelles in the the first bout of the pay-per-view card.

The main event will see Adesanya and Pereira collide. The headliner is intriguing as the two have clashed twice before in kickboxing. 'Poatan' has two wins over Adesanya in the sport and is the only opponent to have knocked the Nigerian-New Zealander out in his entire career.

UFC 281 - Prelims

Lightweights Brad Riddell and Renato Moicano will clash in the featured preliminary contest. The UFC 281 prelims will also feature a light heavyweight bout between Dominick Reyes and Ryan 'Superman' Spann.

Before that, No.15-ranked flyweight Molly McCann will take on No.12-ranked Erin Blanchfield. Middleweights Andre Petroski and Wellington Turman will meet in the first fight of the prelims.

Elsewhere, Michael Trizano will fight South Korean fighter Seungwoo Choi in a featherweight bout. Bantamweights Julio Arce and Montel Jackson will also clash in the second fight of the night.

The first bout of the event will be a 205-pound contest between New Zealander Carlos Ulberg and Romania's Nicolae Negumereanu.
