UFC 256: Weigh-Ins
UFC 256: Weigh-Ins Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno

UFC 283 will see the promotion return to Brazil for the first time since March 2020, when hometown hero Charles Oliveira fought and submitted Kevin Lee.

After an insane trilogy, Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo are fighting each other for the fourth time in the UFC 283 headliner. The Brazilian champion will look to defend his title against the former champion in front of his home crowd. The event will take place on January 21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

UFC 283 confirmed card

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno

Brad Tavares vs. Gregory Rodrigues

Maurício Rua vs. Ihor Potieria

Paul Craig vs. Johnny Walker

Gabriel Bonfim vs. Mounir Lazzez

Josiane Nunes vs. Zarah Fairn

Jéssica Andrade vs. Lauren Murphy

The card initially looked to be headlined by a title fight between Charles Oliveira and Alexander Volkanovski. 'Do Bronx' had said that if he beats Islam Makhachev at UFC 280, he would like to defend his title against Volkanovski in Brazil and then fight him for his featherweight title. However, since the Brazilian lost to Makhachev, his title defense plans are no longer viable.

Also on the card is former UFC women's strawweight champion Jessica Andrade, who faces former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Lauren Murphy. The American is looking to stake her case for a title shot against Valentina Shevchenko.

Brandon Moreno compares his UFC 283 main event fight against Deiveson Figueiredo to 'Rocky 4'

Brandon Moreno, the first Mexican UFC champion, is looking to win the flyweight belt back from archrival Deiveson Figueiredo on January 21 at UFC 283. Figueiredo, on the other hand, wants to put an end to his rivalry with the Mexican in front of his home crowd. The pair have fought thrice before and each fight was awarded the fight of the night.

In an interview from before the fight was confirmed, Moreno compared his quadrilogy with the Brazilian to the fourth installment of the 'Rocky' series:

"Man it's like Rocky 4 man, I want to go to Rio [de Janeiro] now man. I mean at first I was like ahh, because you know it's hard to go to another foreign country right?...But I don't know man I'm trying to be positive and now I'm so excited to go to Rio."

The first fight between the pair ended in a majority draw. Six months later, Moreno got another shot at Figueiredo and submitted him to become the first Mexican UFC champion. In the third fight, the Brazilian got his revenge with a unanimous decision victory.
