UFC lightweight Michael Chandler seems like a man with unshakable confidence. Even in the face of defeat, 'Iron' never ceases to believe in himself. Some may find this level of self-belief delusional, but others see it as a much-needed armor to shield a fighter from the brutal realities of the sport.

In an interaction on The Ariel Helwani Show, Chandler made a rather bold claim about the man who beat him twice in a row, former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. 'Do Bronx' beat 'Iron' for the title back in 2021 and then once again at UFC 309 on Nov. 16.

Chandler said:

"I believe I beat Charles Oliveira nine times out of 10. Obviously I've lost twice to him now. Two out of two. I have 100% loss rate to Charles Oliveira. So I understand why people might tsk at that, roll their eyes at that."

Michael Chandler admitted that Charles Oliveira was the "better man on fight night" after UFC 309 loss

Despite his unyielding confidence, Michael Chandler addressed his loss to the Brazilian submission specialist with humility and respect. The former Bellator lightweight champion said:

"Head up, smile on, heart full in the face of whatever comes our way. Many aspects of a fight can be debated about and replayed ad nauseam, but one thing that will never be up for debate is that we prepared to the best of our abilities with zero wavering or concessions."

He continued:

"Hats off the Charles [Oliveira], he was the better man on fight night. Thank you to my team I prepared with and walked into battle with.. We aren’t even close to being done. Walk On. See you at the top!"

Despite losing a unanimous decision to Oliveira, Chandler showed heart and uncanny determination to win, pulling off a blazing comeback effort in the fifth and final round.
