UFC "legend" Alistair Overeem welcomed by Fight Circus despite drug test fail

UFC 203: Stipe Miocic v Alistair Overeem

Former UFC heavyweight title contender Alistair Overeem has been offered a new home at Fight Circus despite failing a drug test.

Alistair Overeem was last seen inside the UFC octagon in 2021 against Alexander Volkov. Following a second-round TKO defeat, 'The Demolition Man' was released from the UFC. After his exit from the UFC, he joined Glory Kickboxing and went on to face Badr Hari in October 2022, winning the bout via unanimous decision.

However, Overeem's victory was later overturned to a no-contest after the former UFC star tested positive for banned substances. He has also been suspended from fighting for 12 months. It is worth noting that he tested positive for PEDs back in 2012 as well while competing at the UFC.

While Alistair Overeem has been suspended from fighting for 12 months, it looks like the Fight Circus promotion is waiting for the UFC "legend" with open arms. Fight Circus, an eccentric fight promotion famous for hosting bizarre, gimmick-heavy contests, has suggested that they have a place open for Overeem. While suggesting that they only test for STDS, they had this to say over Twitter:

"We ONLY test for STDS after it burns. We have a place for you legend. #fightcircus."

Will Alistair Overeem join Fight Circus?

While Overeem has been publicly offered a place at Fight Circus, it remains unclear as to how serious those tweets were. Moreover, 'The Demolition Man' is also yet to respond to the offer presented by the organization.

However, should he decide to join the organization, Alistair Overeem will join fellow former UFC superstar Rampage Jackson at Fight Circus. Interestingly, Fight Circus seems keen to sign every suspended fighter for their organization.

In another tweet made on their official Twitter page, they revealed that every suspended fighter should be sent to their organization so they can fight their way back. While calling UFC, ONE FC, Bellator, BKFC, etc as "lower organizations," it said:

"I feel like ALL suspended fighters should be sent UP to Fight Circus. Then, they can fight their way back down to all those lower organizations like UFC, ONE FC, BELLATOR, BKFC etc. Lose your contract and fight to get it back. IMO of course"
