A potential light-heavyweight banger between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann was scheduled to headline UFC Vegas 70. However, the card lost the headliner midway as Krylov called in sick.

It was announced that 'The Miner' had been rendered unable to compete by UFC doctors after trying their best to get him fight ready. The original co-headliner between Brendan Allen and Andre Muniz was promoted to the main-event in a last minute change.

Dana White has now revealed more details about the nature of Krylov's sickness. The UFC head honcho, claims to have found out about 'The Miner' having 'stomach issues' halfway through the card.

White also stated that Nikita Krylov was adamant about fighting, which is why the UFC doctor made attempts to get him into fighting shape. The UFC boss further stated that the stomach issues could have stemmed from a bad weight cut. White said during the post-fight presser:

"You know, halfway through the show we found out that he was having stomach problems. He wanted to fight really bad so doc worked with him, tried to get some things taken care of before the fight, didn't work out and just had to pull him. You know, these things happen. They don't know what was wrong with him. It was some kind of a stomach virus that hit him, could have been from cutting weight, who knows what it was."

Canceled UFC main event between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann might be rebooked in two weeks

Nikita Krylov is riding a two-fight win streak which includes a first-round TKO win over former champ Alexander Gustafsson. Meanwhile, Ryan Spann is coming off consecutive first-round stoppage wins and is on the cusp of gaining contender status.

Dana White claims that Krylov and Spann's training camps won't go to waste as they might be back in action in a fortnight. While White wants to rebook the fight soon, he doesn't want the fighters to face the agony of another weight cut next week. The UFC head honcho said during the UFC Vegas 70 post-fight presser:

"We're talking to these guys now about, 'Do we do it in two weeks?' What you don't wanna do is have them cut weight again next week. So you give them a couple of weeks. And god knows what's wrong with him, so let him heal up and go from there."

If Nikita Krylov isn't ready soon, White has promised to find another opponent for Spann who was heartbroken with the cancelation. The 53-year-old said:

"100%. We'll get him taken care of and get it figured out. It's what we do."
