Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso - UFC 285: Jones v Gane

Valentina Shevchenko opened up about her title loss to Alexa Grasso and had a cold response to what would transpire should their rematch take place in Mexico.

During her appearance on The MMA Hour, Shevchenko was asked if she would be open to fighting Grasso in her home country. She mentioned that she isn't in a position to turn down a title shot because of the location, but requested that the judging and officiating be impartial.

She said:

"I cannot say, 'Oh no, Mexico. I cannot go,' or something like that. No, I definitely will go where UFC will put the event, but for me the most important to know that the judges and referee are good in this fight and they are not kind of like leaning towards one side or another side." 'Bullet' then brought up the crowd advantage that the women's flyweight champion would have, especially considering that they would definitely rally behind their nation's champion. She compared it to her Muay Thai career and mentioned that it would give her an opportunity to silence them, saying:

"For me, there is nothing better than to hear silence of the full crowd when they can't like support their fighter because I understand there is nothing they can do and this is the best sound for me, silence." [2:18:11 - 2:18:26]

It will be interesting to see how soon the UFC books Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 as they continue to book fights for their summer event lineup.

Valentina Shevchenko says she would need to adjust her training if rematch takes place in Mexico

Valentina Shevchenko weighed in on possibly challenging UFC women's flyweight champion Alexa Grasso in a rematch in Mexico and what she would need to do to prepare herself to compete at elevation.

During the affromentioned appearance on The MMA Hour, 'Bullet' mentioned that she would take the necessary time to get her body familiar with the elevation, so that it wouldn't have an effect on her performance.

She said:

"It's need to prepare for that because elevation, it's a big deal. It can change the game, the form of your performance, so it's kind of like once you know where you're gonna fight, you have to adjust for...elevation, climate, and all that what is very matter in the fight." [2:18:31 - 2:18:55]

'Bullet' seems eager to return as soon as possible and plans on regaining the women's flyweight championship.
