Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling are likely to face one another for the bantamweight crown later this year. A fight between the pair has been brewing for some time, and reports recently emerged that the bout could take place on May 5 at UFC 288.

'Triple C' and Sterling are both currently in Las Vegas, and the pair were captured crossing paths at the UFC Performance Institute yesterday. The exchange was of a friendly nature, but an underlying sense of tension could be felt.

Henry Cejudo confidently told Aljamain Sterling that he only needs two weeks to prepare for the reigning bantamweight champion, much to his surprise:

"That's all I need. That's it, I'm in shape. Remember, the clock is ticking. The clock is ticking. I'm ready, that's what I'm trying to tell you."

Henry Cejudo retired from MMA in 2020 after defeating Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 to defend the bantamweight title. Speculation surrounding his retirement was that he used the threat of retirement as a contract negotiation tactic with the UFC, but Cejudo neither confirmed nor denied this.

'Triple C' has been plotting coming out of retirement since 2021, and it appears that he is finally committed to a return to the sport.

Sterling defeated T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 280 in his last fight. The bout was immensely one-sided as Dillashaw dislocated his shoulder in the first minute of round 1, resulting in a second-round TKO stoppage.

Henry Cejudo gives Jon Jones parting advice ahead of UFC 285 clash

Jon Jones is set to face Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 285 this weekend for the vacant heavyweight title. 'Bones' worked with former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo in preparation for his bout against Gane in a collaboration between two of the greatest minds in the sport.

'Triple C' was captured giving Jones some last-minute advice following the official weigh-ins yesterday, and said this:

"The greatest ever, you know what I'm saying? That's what it is. From here on out after the weigh-ins bro, try not to give your energy. You gave a lot of your energy this week, I did want to call you and tell you, but that's who you are. After this s**t right here, we stop all that you know what I mean?"
