ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty has been in the sports industry long enough to learn that without self-belief and resiliency, you can never achieve the unimaginable.

Haggerty’s journey to the top is certainly one of triumph over adversity. The British striker reached the pinnacle of his Muay Thai career fighting at flyweight, when he defeated long-time world champion Sam-A Gaiyanhadao for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title in May 2019.

Unfortunately, Haggerty's run as world champion was short-lived. Three months later, he tried to defend his belt against the current ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, but ultimately lost his belt to ‘The Iron Man’ by unanimous decision after a closely-contested bout.

Determined to reclaim his belt, Haggerty pursued Rodtang a few months later only to fall short to the Thai fighter by technical knockout in the third round.

After a period of inactivity due to several COVID restrictions and personal health problems that almost derailed his career, Haggerty would eventually make a triumphant comeback in 2022.

His rise to the top included a decision victory over Mongolpetch Petchyndee at 135 pounds, then a majority decision over Vladimir Kuzmin at 148 pounds, and his momentous KO victory over Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title in April 2023.

Watch Jonathan Haggerty’s undeniable rise from the gut-wrenching loss to Rodtang to his iconic triumph over Nong-O below:

Now, ‘The General’ wants to bring his career to new heights.

He wants to make history as a rare two-sport world champion when he faces ONE bantamweight MMA world champion ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title.

The accomplished strikers will go toe-to-toe at ONE Fight Night 16, which broadcast live in North American primetime on Friday, November 3 at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
