BJJ megastars Mayssa Bastos and Danielle Kelly treated fans to an exciting display of world-class grappling at ONE Fight Night 24 last Friday, August 2 as Kelly sought to defend the ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship.

The Silver Fox BJJ and Illuminati Grappling product earned the first catch of the bout with a stellar leg lock, but Bastos responded with her own leg lock with under two minutes remaining in their world title tilt to even things out.

After their grueling 10-minute clash, Bastos was declared the winner via unanimous decision and the new ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion.

The victory gave the Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy product the distinction of being the first-ever Brazilian to become a ONE submission grappling world champion, further adding to her legendary resume which already includes nine BJJ world championships.

As for Kelly, this marks her first defeat under the ONE banner and now holds a record of 3-1 with one draw.

Mayssa Bastos earns performance bonus for ONE Fight Night 24 outing

In a bout that truly could have gone either way because of the submission attempts from both Mayssa Bastos and Danielle Kelly, it was Bastos' non-stop aggression that gave her the edge on the judges' scorecards.

For her elite performance, ONE Championship commentator Mitch Chilson announced in the post-fight interview that Bastos would be receiving a $50,000 performance bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
