What is Alex Pereira's UFC pound-for-pound ranking after his UFC 281 victory?

UFC 281: Adesanya v Pereira
UFC 281: Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira

Despite Alex Pereira defeating Israel Adesanya at UFC 281, the Brazilian is currently ranked below the Nigerian in the pound-for-pound rankings. Pereira is the No.8-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. However, Adesanya also dropped four places and is currently the No.6-ranked P4P fighter.

However, this is still a very impressive feat for the Brazilian, accomplished within four fights under the UFC banner. Pereira remains unbeaten in the organization. He has defeated Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland, Bruno Silva, and Andreas Michailidis since joining the UFC last year.

The newly-crowned UFC middleweight champion has only been beaten once in professional MMA, with Quemuel Ottoni submitting Pereira in the third round at Jungle Fight 82 back in 2015.

Pereira becoming the UFC middleweight champion spelled chaos for the middleweight rankings. Marvin Vettori is now the No.4-ranked contender, and Jared Cannonier dropped to No.3 in the middleweight rankings.

Robert Whittaker has also dropped one place and now sits at No.2 in the middleweight rankings. Israel Adesanya is the number one contender in the division.

How many first-round finishes does Alex Pereira have in professional MMA?

Alex Pereira has quickly become known for his otherworldly striking in professional MMA. The Brazilian has earned a KO/TKO finish in six out of his eight pro-MMA bouts. Pereira has beaten three of his professional MMA opponents inside the first round, with one of these victories coming in the UFC.

'Poatan' managed to finish Sean Strickland in the very first round at UFC 276: Adesanya vs. Cannonier.

Thomas Powell and Marcelo Cruz are the other fighters Alex Pereira beat in the first five minutes. Pereira's victory against Cruz was also his first-ever win in professional MMA.
