On the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Alexa Grasso teased a rematch with former flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko in Mexico for this year's September card. Mexico's first female champion opened up about her life post her UFC 285 victory over 'Bullet' in her interview with the veteran MMA journalist.

Alex Grasso handed Shevchenko her first loss at flyweight and took her title in the process at the UFC 285 co-main event. The 'Pride of Guadalajara' said the following about fighting in Mexico in September, in a possible rematch with the former flyweight champion:

"September sounds like a great [time to come back]. September sounds amazing, you know? But yeah, let's see. Of course, before the end of this year I would like to fight. Like I said - two fights every year sounds good. And yeah, I truly hope that this [can be done] in Mexico."

When asked by Ariel Helwani what was the best thing that has happened since beating Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 285, Alexa Grasso said the following:

"You know, I heard that a lot of women started to train MMA which is huge for me. Like, I always said to you in every single interview that I just hope that every single woman on this planet [can] learn MMA to defend themselves. To be strong in her mind, her soul, her body - you know, to avoid dangerous situations."

Alexa Grasso, Brandon Moreno and Yair Rodriguez: Mexico is stacking up UFC champions

Although there are many fighters in the octagon who are Mexican-American, and have become champions; to date, there are only three Mexican-native champions. Brandon Moreno became the first Mexican fighter in the world to become a UFC champion, followed by Yair Rodriguez, who won the interim title at UFC 284 and now, Grasso, who is the North American country's third champion.

All three fighters were immortalized in murals across Mexico following their respective wins. The Latin-American country has over 200 champions in combat sports history, including Canelo, Brandon Moreno and Alexa Grasso to name a few.

Here's how Grasso reacted to being immortalized with a mural on the aforementioned podcast with Ariel Helwani:

"I think that one is in Tijuana. But it's really cool and I really appreciate the artist that did [the] job, because it looks really nice."

In just 11 UFC fights, Alexa Grasso secured the UFC women's flyweight title. She has four knockout victories and two submissions wins in her professional career spanning 19 fights. She has a promotional record of 8-3 and an overall MMA record of 16-3.
