Jake Paul recently revealed that he has been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu in preparation for his MMA debut either later this year or early next year.

'The Problem Child' sent shockwaves across the combat sports community in January when he announced his transition to MMA and signed a multi-fight deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).

The polarizing YouTuber-turned-boxer also owns equity in the organization and will compete in the promotion's Super Fight division. Additionally, fighters in this division will earn 50% of the total PPV revenue, compared to the UFC, where some of the biggest stars earn under 20%.

During his interview on the recent PFL 2 broadcast, Jake Paul outlined his future plans to fight in MMA and shared some interesting updates about his fighting timeline:

"It’s looking like the end of 2023, you know? Maybe the beginning of 2024... I’ve been training jiu-jitsu a little bit and getting back to my wrestling roots... I really just have to focus on learning the kicks. So I need about a year or so, and then I’m gonna be ready, and I’m excited to be doing it with the PFL."

Jake Paul was recently handed his first loss as a professional boxer by Tommy Fury in February at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia. The 26-year-old American lost to Fury via split decision after getting outworked over eight rounds.

Jake Paul next fight: Senior PFL executive shares details about 'The Problem Child's MMA debut

The PFL's Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, Loren Mack, recently revealed some exciting news about Jake Paul's MMA debut.

After PFL 1 2023, the promotion's senior executive disclosed that Paul will "absolutely" fight this year, and the search for an opponent is on. In a recent interview with MMA Mania, Mack stated:

"Jake Paul is absolutely going to fight in 2023... I mean, that’s been the plan all along. I know, he’s in the gym, and he’s training, taking it very seriously. So expect to see him in the PFL cage in 2023, and it’s going to be MMA."

He continued:

"He’s very serious about MMA, and he’s an incredible athlete. I think he’s gonna really develop into a superstar in the sport."

While there is no solid news on who Jake Paul will fight in his first outing in MMA, the search for an opponent is ongoing. The YouTuber-turned-boxer has previously called out UFC veteran Nate Diaz, but only time will tell if the two will ever meet in the cage.
